Do you think that the way Linux is installed is sort of confusing for the newer user?

When I first began playing around with the Linux OS, especially Red Hat, the installation was very confusing and the hard drive setup, etc was extremely hard to figure out.

What do you think about it?

I used RedHat, I think like OS 7 which has no GUI... I know the newer ones have GUIs but I remember the days they were just command consoles :p

Yeah it is. There is a live disro based on gentoo but it didnt get off the ground on my system.

If i had the tme i'd probably do it but KUbuntu seems to be ok for me and the support is enormous. Emerge is definately the way forward though.

If the had it on the more widely used distro's it'd be amazing

Peace

I agree with you, support for many distros are just dead and it makes me wonder if they care about their distro anymore.

Most people also only help out in paid distro communities where the opensource people don't get much of a chance.
