Lycos Will Use Jeeves Search Technology

Here is what Reuters says:

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Lycos Inc. selected Ask Jeeves Inc.'s (ASKJ.O: Quote, Profile, Research) search technology for use on its search engine, the companies said on Wednesday, sending Ask Jeeves shares up more than 2 percent.
Ask Jeeves also syndicates its search technologies and advertising products to other Web sites, including, InfoSpace, BellSouth, and CNET Networks.

Terms were not disclosed. had previously used technology from Yahoo Inc.'s (YHOO.O: Quote, Profile, Research) Inktomi unit.

Adam Sciroco, an executive at Lycos, which is a unit of South Korean Web site operator Daum Communications Corp.(035720.KS: Quote, Profile, Research) said that Ask Jeeves technology was already being used on other Lycos Web properties.

"The decision to switch (came) because we felt that the relationship with Jeeves provided us with a broad web search solution (and) gave us the flexibility and the ability to differentiate our products later this year," he said.

Ask Jeeves shares rose 48 cents, or 2.1 percent, at $23.12 in afternoon trade on Nasdaq.


Seems like Ask Jeeves is becoming a much large competitor amongst the major search engines. If they were more webmaster friendly, they would get much farther IMO. I have yet to see much research on Jeeves SEO research.

I am going to do a little bit of researching and let you guys know if I find anything on Ask Jeeves SEO Techniques.
