1. Install openoffice / koffice on your Linux box. This is a fully fledged open source office productivity suite and is GREAT (and free)
2. If you really cant get away from microsoft Word or your docs do not display properly (sometimes the case as the .DOC format is propriatary and OpenOffice / Koffice do their best to read the files). You can buy crossover office and install MS Office as you normally would on a normal PC. Crossover office is about 20 quid and will also allow you to run other microsoft product.
Personally I'd stick to Open Office but the choice is yours
