From March this year, Internet services Providers will have to keep information about every email sent or received in the UK for at least a year.

Civil liberties group have attacked this plan, I think its a crazy plan as well, there are lots of ways for people who want to evade the authorities to communicate without using UK based ISP.

What do you think of this law?

Thanks

That law is rather bad than good. the same as if they have preserved the copies of our usual letters for a year...

But I am not bothered, ia m not from UK>)

Some would argue if a person has nothing to hide they have nothing to worry about. A bit like carrying ID cards I suppose, or being on CCT.

Still, emails, like letters, are rather personal so I just don't know.

If you look at the from the view point of and ISP, its a nightmare especially giving the current economic situation, you have to find money to invest in expensive hardware to store huge number of data for one year.
Who is going to pay for that?

It's a good idea in a way. At least it will bring down criminals.
