An inbound link (also referred to as a back link) is a hyperlink on a third-party web page that points to a web page on your site. Outbound links are links that are meant to take you elsewhere. These are links that are going to direct you to another specific webpage or website altogether.

Backlinks (i.e., inbound links) are different from outbound links (links from your website to another website) and internal links (links from one website to another page on that same website). You can learn more about the differences between all three link types here.

Inbound links can significantly improve your site's search rankings, particularly if they contain Anchor Text keywords relevant to your site and are located on sites with high Page Rank. Outbound links are all links from a particular your website's web page that lead to other pages, including pages in the same domain.
