C++ input and output system manages two integer values associated with a file. That is the get pointer and the put pointers
The get pointer: the get pointer specifies the location in the file where the next read operation will occur.
The put pointer: The put pointer specifies the location in the file where the next write operation will occur.
The get pointer and the put pointers indicate the current positions for read and write operations. Every time the input and output operation take place, the pointers are automatically moved sequentially.

Pointer is unique feature of the programming languages especially of C. This was the reason why C was started busy in developing more gaming software. Pointers plays an important role in programming, it deals with the address of the data so, it is not necessary to remember what and which data is stored besides its address.
