Power supply problems

Two of our Dell machines fell over with power supply failure after about 3 years use - not a big deal especially as they were covered with maintenance contracts (other than the time I had to invest in taking them to pieces to prove it was the power supply before an engineer could come).

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced similar issues with either the same or other machines - is it an inherent (or even inbuilt) fault in some of these machines?

I am very happy with the systems, just curious.

PSU

As with any component PUs can fail. Just make sure you buy a decent one (Id reccomend enermax) and mke sure its big enough to power your rig (small system = small PSU)

I run a 60W PSU for my low form pc (1gb DDR2, AMD 3000 Soc AM2, Onboard 128Mb VGA, Sound, LAN, DDRW, PCI Wifi, USB Bluetooth)

A standard PC will need about 300W but 500 is common

Big systems (like servers / gaming rigs) Are full of stuff that needs power so a 700W is usually fine for them

Peace
