Hi,

I am designing a catalog however the photos have a background, for
example the pictures are of shoes but i can see the table the shoe is
sitting on and the background behind the shoe, is there a way to cut
the shoes out in Photoshop so the background is removed?

Thanks

There are quite a few ways to do this in Photoshop, I tend to use the "magic wand" tool to select the background I want to remove, press delete button and the background is gone.

Another way is to use the lasso tool to select the background you want to remove.

There could be a much better way used by professionals that I do not know of.

You can try and use the mask

1 Press Q
2 Select over the area you want to delete using your paintbrush
3 Press again Q to allow selection
4 Press del button
5 You have an image without a background. You can add a white background as in a catalogue image or you can just leave it blank and save it as .gif or .png

I suggest .gif if you will place it on the web and you want it to be compatible with IE6.

Hope that helps you!
