Is it easy to switch from Windows to Ubunutu?

I'm not talking about installing. I'm talking about adjusting since I'm a Windows baby.

Ubuntu

It has a start menu style button and standard CD Burning / DVD PLayback / Music playing capabilities as Windows

Can you be more precise? What is your system intended for?

Ubuntu is already like Windows, accept for the fact it's Linux

It's got all the features you'll need if you already have Windows, and OpenOffice for office work.

Using the WINE package you can also run a lot of Windows applications.

same

indeed they are similar in the way they have a gui and a start bar.

you can also use crossover office to run windows apps but its better to use linux software in linux. its just a nice option that you can run win32 apps.

its funny how linux permits the running of windows software but not vice versa.

I definitely agree... the only way I can "technically" do that is to install a OS emulator and install Linux, so then I can "run" apps on "Windows"

And it's also funny how now Mac can run Windows itself + apps and also not vice versa.

Software

I prefer to run pure open source on my systems but dnt mind mixing KDE and Gnome libraries which some folk dont like

KDE is my desktop of choice but Gnome has some great apps
