Bounce rate is the rate at which traffic flows on your website and flies away. It is the measure of popularity of your website through traffic behavior. Bounce rate should be kept to minimum to increase your website popularity and increase your traffic flow.

Bounce rate is the percentage of visitors who go away from your website after viewing just one page, that is single-page sessions. High bounce rate can be because of various factors including but not limited to poor design/navigation, badly written or irrelevant content etc. Try to keep the bounce rate to minimum so as to engage the audience, and to get most out of the traffic you are getting.

As everyone else already replied, bounce rate is the percentage of users "bouncing off" your webpage, meaning they come to your page and quickly hit the back button on the browser or close the window or click a link which takes them away from your site. Typically, having a lower bounce rate is required for good ranking and bounce rate gives you an idea about the health of your content and design.

Industry averages suggest having a bounce rate of 50% or lower because not all visitors will stick to your page, half of them are likely to leave instantly. But having a higher than 50% bounce rate tells you that you have issues with your design, content, user interface or all of these factors. Visitors are more likely to stay longer on your page or website if they find informative content or easy to navigate menus. If they land on an error page or poorly written content or blank pages, they are more likely to "bounce off". Every broken link generates such bounces.

To lower bounce rate look for improvements in these areas:
  • User friendly design and interface
  • Engaging content with images or high quality material
  • Fix all broken links and redirect them to appropriate new pages
  • Provide clear instructions about call to actions like "Order Here", "Read More", etc.
  • Do not clutter your pages, that will confuse users and send them packing
  • Test your site in all popular browsers and mobile using testing websites which show you if your website looks broken on any device or browser - fix these issues immediately
  • Language also plays a minor role, do not create a German website with purely english content with a little bit of German, provide clear buttons or menu items to change the language if you offer content in multiple languages

Bounce rate in Google Analytics refers to the percentage of visitors who quickly exit your site in a given period without browsing further. It is calculated by dividing the total number of bounces on a page by total number of entrances on the page. Bounce rate is used primarily for measuring the quality of a landing page. High bounce rate is an indication that your landing page is irrelevant to the visitor. To improve bounce rate, you must create landing pages that satisfy the queries of your prospective customers.

Bounce rate keeps a record that how many visitors open your website and without visiting another page or investing time they move out from your website.
If Bounce rate is below 50% then your site is good but if it increases you should focus on the contents and presentation of the webpages in your websites.

A visitor lands on your webpage, immediately moves away. Your bounce rate will be very high.

Bounce Rate is a term that you may have seen on your website’s Google Analytics report, or heard about from your web designer when talking about search engine optimization. The importance of bounce rate as a measurement of how effective your website and marketing materials are cannot be understated. It’s important enough that you review what bounce rate is and what you can do to improve your site’s “stickiness” for better SEO and more traffic conversion.

It's not just lack of Quality content, but it has so many things like design of the website, images, videos in a post. The loading of a webpage is very important, if that is not in range, then Search engines too pushing back to the search results page.

That is why low bounce rate is referred as "Good" and high bounce rate as "Bad" for a site. So we should have try to make our site attractive for audience engaged to get improved bounce rate (low bounce rate)

Bounce Rate is the measurement of users that visit your site and leave without visiting a second page. It applies to a visit landing page i.e. the first page a person visits. A high bounce rate shows there are some problems with your website. Some reasons for high bounce rate are:
1. Single Page Website
2. User Behavior
3. Incorrect Implementation
4. Site Design
To calculate the bounce rate, follow this equation: Total no. of visits viewing one page only/Total no. of entries from that page.

In Google Analytics Bounce Rate is the percentage of single-page visits. It is the number of visits in which a user leaves your website from the landing page without browsing any further. Also, Bounce rate indicates your website content quality it is good or bad.
