html is hypertext markup language which is used to diplay data and always focus on the look of the data.
while xml is all about describing the data.
can we use xml instead of html?
can someone provide me code as i have given a assignment.

These are the following difference between in the XML and HTML :-
XML stand for Extensible markup language (meta language of marking) . HTML used for scripting where as XML used for describing the data.
XML tag is no pre defined . You can create XML tags according to your requirement.Where as HTML tags are predefined .

HTML and XML both are the sets of codes which is used for making world wide webpage it means make a website, And XML is new version of the HTML.
But there are some difference between them In HTML are tags are predefined like <body>, <p>. and in XML you can also create your tags, suppose you want to make a student table that use <student>, <name>, <roll no>, <dob>.

HTML consists of tags mainly like closing tags and opening tags. The tags are designed to describe the page content. XML on the other hand is a mark up language. It is not a programming language , it is said to be a meta language. XML has predefined set of rules like syntax rules.

XHTML is fundamentally HTML that is requiring a demonstrable XML structure. The point being that you are less expected to put into practice minor mistakes which might be understand differently on different platforms.

Both are markup language but there is huge differences between them:

    1. HTML used for present your data to the users whereas XML store and transfer data.
    2. XML is case sensitive but HTML is not case sensitive
    3. HTML has predefined tag but user define tag (in XML we can use our own tags).

XML is a file extension for an Extensible Markup Language (XML) file format used to create common information formats and share both the format and the data on the World Wide Web, intranets, and elsewhere using standard ASCII text.

HyperText Markup Language (HTML) is the main markup language for displaying web pages and other information that can be displayed in a web browser. HTML is not a programming language, but rather a markup language.
